My identity used to be a flag

It used to be rusty, grumpy and black

It was clothes with labels

That cost a fortune to buy

It used to be football

And just getting by

I used to be English

And nothing much else

That was until uni

Where i became something else

I travelled around

To lands far and near

In the places i went

I met truly great people

From all over the world

I listened and learned

Soon knew i was wrong

When i came back

The flag it looked different

I didn't feel English

After the things that id saw

I felt more European

Or maybe something else

I think id become

A citizen of the World
