Walls Pt 3

We build walls, we build walls,

We build walls so high.

That they nearly reach the sky,

When all we really need to do is reach out.

We hide our feelings,

Never show our selves compassion.

Stop opening up,

Never communicating our passions.

We have stopped interacting,

With our fellow man.

Never look in anyone’s face,

As we are rushing past.

We build walls,

We build walls so tall.

That they nearly reach the sky,

When all we really need to do is reach out.

We never express,

Our darkest emotions.

Sleeping with anger,

In Ikea beds.

We buy throwaway items,

At extortionate prices.

To store them in cupboards,

Till we donate them to charity.

And we build walls,

We build walls so high.

That they nearly reach the sky,

When all we really need to do is break out.

Break them down, break them down,

Little brick by little brick.

Until the wall is nothing,

Until you believe that you are something.

We never believe,

That we can fly.

Like Beautiful Kestrels

Soaring up to the sky.

We drown in guilt,

And self-denial.

Punishing ourselves,

With alcohol and needles.

Break them down, break them down

Little piece by little piece,

Until that wall is nothing

Until you believe, you are no longer inconsequential.

We never believe,

That we are worth it.

Compare ourselves,

To the folk in the papers.

We never believe,

In our innate capability.

To survive and bounce back,

From our own twisted journeys.

We don’t believe that we are heroes,

Heroes too many.

To the children who love us,

The wives that we marry.

No; instead we build walls, we build walls,

We build walls so tall.

That they nearly reach the sky,

When all we really need to do is break them down.
